Surfhouse’s closest beach access, the Beacons Beach public access trail, has been temporarily closed. On May 2nd, there was a bluff failure that impacted the trail leading to Beacons Beach. Because the trail is temporarily impassable, the City of Encinitas has closed the viewpoint and use of the trail.
Fortunately, there are two other convenient public beach access points within walking and biking distance to Surfhouse. The two options include Grandview (0.9 miles) to the north, or Stone Steps (0.9 miles) to the south.
Both of these beaches are accessible via Neptune Ave, the one-way street one block west of Surfhouse. You can get to these beaches by walking down Neptune or taking one of our complimentary beach cruiser bicycles.
We are still offering beginner surf lessons and intermediate to advanced surf guiding for guests of the hotel. These include transportation and are a great way to explore other surf spots around town.
You are still able to surf Beacons, which you can access by walking along the beach from either the Stone Steps or Grandview public access points. You will also continue to have full access to all our great coffee shops, restaurants, bars and local retailers in our surrounding neighborhood.
